Lil Wayne Reveals Health Problems: "I've Had A Bunch Of Seizures, Y'All Just Never Hear About It"

Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne has come forward to speak out on his health condition and revealed why experiencing seizures is actually a common battle he deals with.
"The thing is, man, the bad news is, I'm an epileptic, so I'm prone to seizures," he said. "This isn't my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh seizure. I've had a bunch of seizures; y'all just never hear about it. This time it got real bad because I had three of 'em in a row, and on the third one, my heart rate went down to, like, 30 percent. Basically, I could've died soon. That's why it was so serious. The reason being for the seizures is just plain stress, no rest and overworking myself. That's typical me, though."
He also spent a few moments on addressing his stance with gossip-driven website TMZ in light of the publication suggesting he was going to die earlier this month.
"Nah, that's what they do," Wayne added when asked if he is upset with TMZ. "That's what they do. I can't be upset at that. I get upset at my kids when they do things that I tell 'em not to do; I can't get upset at TMZ for doing what they do. They probably gonna come out tomorrow and say something else about somebody else that ain't true. That's what they do. If they tell the truth, the truth isn't good enough for them, so they gotta twist everything up. So you know what it is." (Power 106)
This week, Maybach Music Group leader Rick Ross spoke on Wayne's health in light of experiencing multiple seizures himself.
"Yeah, [Lil Wayne], that's the homie, I had a few words with Birdman and it's all positive," he said on Wayne's status. Given his own battle with balancing work and life, Ross said it's about prioritizing. "It's just all about putting yourself first and we always reiterate that with each other: 'Get rest,'" he said. "Sometimes, your desire can overwhelm the things you know that are right for you." He also said that he has spoken to the Young Money leader directly. "We touched basis and I send my love and it's all good. The homie feeling much, much better.
Last week, Wayne released a video announcement to fans letting them know his condition.
"5, 4, 3, 2, what's poppin' y'all? Tunechi's in this b*tch," Wayne said in a video directed by DJ Scoob Doo and dated March 20th. "I just want to say thank-you to all y'all for your prayers and your concerns and all that. I swear to God I felt that love when I was laid up in that motherf*cking hospital bed. But I want all y'all to know that I'm good, a n*gga more than good. Also, my bum a** album's still coming out March 26th, it's the 26th? March 26th. I Am Not A Human Being II -- I'm still going on tour, America's Most Wanted Tour, with some of my closest friends in the game, speaking of my closest friends in the game, I got my n*gga right here to elaborate on that subject."
